Day 41: To Comfort, Tx

Published on 2010-03-13 by Bryan Carbone

Saturday March 13, 2010, 68 miles (109 km) - Total so far: 1,715 miles (2,760 km)

Woke up with frost on the tents. Was not expecting that. Talked with some of the crew at the EMS for a little while before heading on our way. Then we rode hills all day long in the heat. Ryan got a flat early in the day, more of a slow leak. Around mile 50, I had a flat. It sounded like a gunshot. We think I may have pinched the tube when I put it in, and then after riding on it for a week it finally weakened to the point of blowing out. Anyway, we made it to Comfort about 5:30 and rode around for about 45 minutes looking for the firehouse, ems, or police station. No one was at any of the buildings. We found the city park and Ryan called the sheriff's office and finally got a hold of an officer. After talking to his supervisor, we got permission to camp in the park. We all just cowboyed it in this huge gazebo.
